Tom Schaeffer

CEO

Tom Schaeffer is the CEO of Float Left Interactive. As an entrepreneur and software engineer, with 20+ years of experience, Tom founded Float Left Interactive in 2009, amidst the tipping point in the television industry, when viewers began to change the way they consumed entertainment.

Applying his decades of experience, coupled with a passion for the Media and Entertainment industry, Tom leads the organization in launching large-scale OTT and TVE services for media companies and programmers such as Crackle, NBC Sports, AMC, CBS Sports and Evine.

In 2015, Float Left launched Flicast, a white-label, pre-integrated solution that drives powerful engagement through cross-platform features, video distribution, advertising, subscription and billing, and analytics.

A Philadelphia native, and Drexel graduate, Tom is also a musician, licensed pilot, and currently lives in South Florida with his wife and three children.

Justin Kent

VP of Engineering

Justin has been creating software professionally for over 20 years. After earning two degrees from MIT, a lightning strike catalyzed his drive to change the world via code. Since then, he’s developed digital platforms in areas as diverse as news, entertainment, and healthcare… along the way, launching award-winnings apps for some of the world’s biggest brands. At Float Left, he leads the engineering team by instilling best practices, strong technical fundamentals, and an understanding of the total development lifecycle.

Kelly Hodgens

VP of Operations

Been with Float Left from the beginning, started as more of an advisory role (I was pregnant at the time). Then moved to full time a year later. I have always told Tom not to give me a title until I have earned it, so I went back to school while working to get my Bachelors in Business Management. I never wanted to be looked at as “just the wife”. I am VERY passionate about Float Left.

I have been in the finance industry for about 20 years, as well as Compliance, HR and Operations. I come from very professional businesses so having to be casual in software industry has always been a challenge.

Yes, Mom of 3 boys. I am also an equestrian (I guess I can be called that, lol). I have a ex race horse, and train him 3 times a week. Fun fact: when the business was first starting I was selling Roku’s at the soccer field and Target. I’m a huge movie streaming person. Love technology, made our house a “smart house”. I am 100% geek

Whether it is designing packaging for herbal supplements, creating interactive radio programs for elementary schools, simplifying complex financial aggregation software, or design his kids birthday party invitations, Taylor has a well rounded perception of design and how to keep it user focused at all times.

Release Manager

Video is my life in and out of the office, be it testing our numerous apps and channels that we have created or creating video of my own. I love video and its power to help us consume content in interesting, fun, and stimulating new ways.

I have been working for Float Left for over a year and a half as their Release Manager/QA Lead. I came here with an extensive knowledge in quality assurance, leading teams, numerous software platforms, and video creation. Coming with that knowledge was still nothing compared to what I learned in just the first few months of working at Float Left and with this knowledgeable team.

This industry is exploding, and doing it differently on each platform it is consumed on. This makes it challenging to adapt and pivot daily, but I am always up for the challenge.

I lead a small quality assurance team that takes pride in breaking software and documenting the details. We are diversely seasoned in platforms such as Roku, tvOS, iOS, Android, Fire TV, Android TV, and Samsung Tizen. We have worked with brands big and small, but always have one goal in mind, to deliver the best experience to the end user.

I work closely with our VP of engineering, Project Manager, and Product Manager to ensure our customers vision is coming to life. I take every successful build delivery as one step closer to perfecting the video space. I look forward to helping Float Left create even more memorable video experiences one app at a time.
